An adjuster is a person who investigates claims.
A claim adjuster is responsible to evaluate an insurance claim to determine the insurance company's liability.
There are different types of the insurance claim adjuster:
Company adjusters are full-time employees of the insurance company.
Independent adjusters work on a contract basis for insurance companies. Insurance companies generally hire independent adjusters to help them process claims more efficiently.
Public adjusters are freelancers who work for public adjusting companies. Public adjusters are hired by insurance companies on a contract basis.
Sometimes due to high demand, limited staff in the particular area, and the need for a highly specialized claim adjuster are some of the reasons why an insurance company uses an independent adjuster instead of a company adjuster.
