Admitted Assets

Admitted assets are insurance company financial assets that can be valued and are included on the balance sheet to determine the financial viability of the company.

Policyholders invest so much via premium and depend so heavily on insurance companies upon their insurance coverage. This is the reason, why regulators are strict about the financial solvency of insurance companies compared to other types of businesses.

To make it easier to assess an insurance company's financial viability, regulator rules do not permit certain assets to be included on the balance sheet.
